Report: Fake Vendor Accounts Impersonating Staff
⚠️ Security Alert — Impersonation Scam
We have identified and banned 3 accounts that were impersonating Lantern staff members to gain the trust of buyers and manipulate transactions. These accounts used display names and avatars nearly identical to official staff accounts.
Banned Accounts
- u/lantern_ staff (note the underscore) — Sent DMs to vendors claiming to be performing "routine account verification" and requesting wallet addresses
- u/lanternadmin — Posted in marketplace threads claiming to be an admin offering "exclusive deals" through a vendor account
- u/lantern_mod — Contacted buyers after completed transactions asking them to "confirm delivery" via an external link (phishing)
How to Identify Real Staff
- Real staff accounts have the OFFICIAL or MOD badge on their posts
- Staff will never DM you asking for wallet addresses, passwords, or personal information
- Staff will never ask you to click external links for "verification" purposes
- Always check the username carefully — impersonators use similar-looking names with underscores, hyphens, or character substitutions (e.g., "l" instead of "1")
If you have received any suspicious messages from these or similar accounts, report them immediately using the report function. Do not respond to or click links in unsolicited DMs from anyone claiming to be staff.
